SimCOACH™: From Mobile Simulation to Vaccine Outreach
In 2014, generous donors funded SimCOACH™ for the Prisma Health-University of South Carolina School of Medicine Simulation Center. SimCOACH™ is a fully equipped mobile unit that provides high-tech simulation-based training to health care providers across the state. At the onset of the pandemic, the work of SimCOACH™ paused, but it’s now back on the road again to support Prisma Health’s COVID-19 vaccination sites in the Midlands.

Thanks to $290,000 in donations, Peggy Meyer received the complex surgery she needed to treat her cancer without leaving the state. Generous gifts from the Atrium Society, The Cavalry and our community helped fund lifesaving, innovative surgical equipment to help Peggy and other cancer patients in the Midlands.
Richland Board Brings New Life to Richland Hospital’s Outdoor Space
A dedication and blessing of the newly renovated courtyard on the Prisma Health Richland Hospital campus was held on April 22, Earth Day. Samuel Tenenbaum, president of the Foundation, thanked the Richland Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees for their $25,000 contribution to the Foundation to fund new patio furniture for the courtyard. The furniture and renovated space is a significant improvement to this outdoor space for patients, families and team members to enjoy. A tree was planted to commemorate Earth Day.
A Reflection on USC Dance Marathon’s Commitment to Helping Midlands Children and Families
During a year of uncertainty and new challenges, USC Dance Marathon students raised more than $619,000 for Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands by finding creative ways to engage their peers, families and communities. Jersey Mike’s Subs wrapped up their 11th Annual “Month of Giving” in March. Thirteen locations in the Midlands raised more than $72,000 for Prisma Health Children’s Hospital–Midlands through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. This is the largest gift ever from Jersey Mike’s Subs.
Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union’s Unwavering Commitment to Children’s Hospital
In March, Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union asked their members, staff and business partners to join them in their commitment to Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands. With additional support from CO-OP Financial Services and Enterprise Car Sales, they raised $36,160 this year for Children’s Hospital. Over the last five years, the Credit Union has donated nearly $185,000. Since 2005, more than $425,000 has been donated to the Midlands Foundation to benefit Children’s Hospital in Columbia.
Costco For The Kids
Costco on Piney Grove Road in Columbia will start their Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaign May 1. All month, customers will be asked at the register to consider a donation to Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands. Businesses that donate $500 or more will be recognized on signage that will be displayed inside Costco throughout the campaign.
