The Calhoun Traumatic Brain Injury Foundation recently held their annual fundraising event and donated $15,000 to the Midlands Foundation. The gift will benefit Prisma Health Richland Hospital Trauma Center, where Cal Wrenn, founder, was treated for a traumatic brain injury. Since 2009, the Calhoun Traumatic Brain Injury Foundation has donated more than $219,000 to the Midlands Foundation.
Champion Tap Priester Featured on WIS-TV
Journalist Hannah Cumler with WIS-TV recently interviewed Lindsey and Tyler Priester, parents of Tap Priester, 2021 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champion for Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands. Tap nearly drowned when he was two. Now, Tap and his family are advocating for our local Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The doors of D’s Wings in Cayce will close soon, as they make a move to Meeting St. in W. Columbia. For nearly 30 years, customers have posted dollar bills on the wall at the iconic Cayce location. Owner Billy Rentz and the D’s Wings family will donate all the dollar bills from the walls—estimated to be about $5,000—to the Midlands Foundation to benefit CAMP KEMO, led by the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands.
Midlands Foundation Wins Statewide Awards
The Public Relations and Events team at Prisma Health Midlands Foundation was recently recognized by the South Carolina Chapter of Public Relations Society of America with three Mercury Awards. The statewide awards are presented to South Carolina public relations practitioners and organizations for their outstanding communications campaigns and tactics.
