Faye M. Jeffcoat leaves extraordinary gift benefiting Prisma Health Children’s Hospital

Prisma Health Midlands Foundation is honored to announce a gift totaling nearly $2 million from the estate of Faye M. Jeffcoat. This legacy gift continues a deep tradition of giving Faye Jeffcoat and her husband, Abb Jeffcoat, established during their lives.

In accordance with Mrs. Jeffcoat’s wishes, nearly $1.3 million of the gift has been designated to support Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Midlands and more than $664,000 has been designated to support CAMP KEMO Programs, an umbrella of programs designed to provide support for children navigating cancer and blood disorders.

It is the largest gift from a single family in the Foundation’s history, and its impact on children will be far-reaching.

“This gift represents the great love that Faye and Abb Jeffcoat had for their community and for the well-being of children. We are grateful for their incredible generosity and the thoughtful planning they undertook to continue supporting the children’s hospital beyond their own lifetimes,” said Jeff Faw, Executive Director, Prisma Health Midlands Foundation.

The larger portion of the gift has been directed to the children’s hospital’s endowment fund and will generate income to expand clinical programs, including the hospital’s Cystic Fibrosis Center. Both Faye and Abb Jeffcoat cared deeply about advancing care for children and adults with Cystic Fibrosis, as their son, Abb III, courageously lived with the disease. Abb III passed away in 2007.

A portion of the gift has been directed to support the CAMP KEMO Programs Endowment Fund, helping Prisma Health sustain and expand its beloved, long-running set of programs for children facing cancer and blood disorders. CAMP KEMO Programs operate year round and are designed to care for families at every point during their cancer journey, and after. These programs rely fully on donor support.

The Jeffcoats became familiar with CAMP KEMO through Reggie Hoyle, a longtime volunteer and member of its advisory council.

“My best friend, Abb III, and the whole Jeffcoat family, were wonderful people and would be so proud to see how their generous gift will be used to make a difference in the lives of so many children and families in this community as they face challenges similar to what Abb faced in his life. I am looking forward to seeing how this gift will continue to bring hope to children for years to come!”

Philanthropy is a vital source of revenue for the children’s hospital, a safety-net hospital that provides care for more than 150,000 children’s visits each year.

“The generosity of the Jeffcoats will be immeasurable in its impacts to our programs,” said R. Caughman Taylor, MD, Senior Medical Director, Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Midlands. “To have a family show such faith in our work to give so generously reminds us all at Children’s Hospital how important our work is seen by our community, to the children and families who entrust us.”

Faye Jeffcoat passed away in 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abb Jeffcoat, Jr.; son, Abb Jeffcoat III; and daughter, Lisa Jeffcoat. Abb Jr. was president of Russell and Jeffcoat, a leading realty company in the Midlands.

Ed Billings served as trustee for the Jeffcoat family’s estate and made the gift to Prisma Health Midlands Foundation, noting, “Faye and Abb were dear, long-term friends and I am honored that they entrusted me with facilitating these gifts.”
