The William L. Ivey Endowment provides a unique scholarship opportunity for professional development for Prisma Health Richland team members. The scholarship covers conference registration, hotel accommodations and travel to one of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) 2026-2027 conferences in Phoenix, AZ, or Lisbon, Portugal.
The William L. Ivey Endowment was established to continue the legacy of the late William “Bill” L. Ivey and provide unique professional development opportunities. Mr. Ivey served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Richland Memorial Hospital from 1975 until his retirement in 1992. He sought to provide his team with the opportunity to travel and bring back knowledge to Richland Hospital. The fund, managed by Prisma Health Midlands Foundation, has been growing over the past 30+ years and the first scholarships were awarded in 2018. The naming of our 2026 recipients brings the total number of team members benefiting from this prestigious award to 26.

Ivey Fellowship Committee is comprised of Caleb Buchanan, Celena Bearden, Leah Inman, William “Lentz” Ivey, Jr., Paulette Sessions, Anna Saunders and Katie Williams.
The mission of the William L. Ivey Scholarship is for health care providers to not only learn new best practices, but to share them with their fellow team members when they return from their conferences.
