Prisma Health Midlands Foundation raises $245,000 through signature Festival of Trees and Donor Recognition event
The Prisma Health Midlands Foundation extends its sincerest thank you to its donors, board members, volunteers and supporters that attended the Festival of Trees auction and Special Donor Recognition event in December.
Presented by Aflac, the signature auction of themed festive trees and premium items supports Prisma Health Children’s Hospital in the Midlands. The evening also included a live Fund-the-Need fundraiser to send children to Prisma Health camps next summer.
In all, the event raised more than $245,000 which will support patients and families right here in the Midlands.
This year’s celebration was particularly special because it included the induction of Dr. Rev. Solomon Jackson, Jr. as a Prisma Health Midlands Foundation Fellow. The distinct designation honors individuals whose contributions of time, talent and resources have significantly advanced the Foundation’s mission and goals.
Dr. Jackson embodies the true spirit of philanthropy and is a longtime supporter of Prisma Health in the Midlands. His most recent gift of $1 million enabled the Foundation to complete a campaign to acquire an additional Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical system for Prisma Health in the Midlands. (The system assists surgeons in performing delicate and complex operations through small incisions with robotic-assisted surgery.)
Additionally, during the event, Prisma Health Richland’s Chief Executive Officer, Mike Bundy, announced that the Foundation’s Naming Committee, the Prisma Health Midlands Board and the Prisma Health Midlands Foundation Board unanimously approved to name the third-floor surgery waiting area located in Prisma Health Richland Hospital the Dr. Rev. Solomon Jackson, Jr. Surgery Waiting Area. An official dedication ceremony of the space will take place in early 2023.
